Conscious Care is a mountainside healing facility in Potrero, Costa Rica. We are a team of friends and professionals serving clients in the Guanacaste area who are interested in receiving a full service care experience after receiving elective surgery in Liberia, Costa Rica. Once you are discharged from the hospital, you come to us, and your care begins for the length of time that you have requested.
Here is a snapshot of who you can expect to see during your time with us...

Harriet Lanka
Intake Manager, Experience Facilittor & Massage Therapist at the Lanktuary
My name is Harriet Lanka and I am 47 years old and from Park City, Utah. I have been hosting yoga and healing retreats and living in Potrero, Costa Rica since June of 2013, but I have been a holistic healer practicing energy work and massage for over 24 years. My family and I (my husband Adam and 2 young daughters, 3 & 6) live here at The Lanktuary, and I teach yoga and offer healing sessions here at our on-site healing studio, Heart & Flow Yoga.

I will be the main one in charge of your experience and care.
The reason I am interested in offering this healing experience at our home is because I know first hand what it's like to both get breast implants in and to have them removed, so I understand the care involved after surgery and how important it is to take time to heal.
I got breast implants in July 2004 when I was 24 years old. And for a long time I loved my implants, but after learning that I had been quietly suffering from symptoms of Breast Implant illness (BII), I did my research and learned that Dr. Urzola was one of the first doctors to believe in BII and help women explant. So in January of 2017 I got an explant, fat transfer and breast lift from Dr. Urzola in Escazu, and my life and health immediately improved, and I love my smaller size.
I didn't take any time to heal after getting my implants in, and I regret that. But after my explant, I spent 10 days at a healing center, and I am so grateful that I took that quiet time to heal, rest and have help with all the big and little things after my surgery. I remember how difficult it was just to go to the bathroom and take a shower. I couldn’t imagine trying to do it alone, or relying on just my husband, who was gone a lot during the day. I also enjoyed taking quiet time to read and reflect on all the healing and new changes that were happening in my body, and redefine what being feminine meant to me. I know that if I was at home, I’d be trying to somehow keep up with all my daily responsibilities at home, such as cleaning, cooking, caring for my house and walking my dogs (I didn’t have kids yet). I would recommend that EVERYONE who can, set aside time to heal and receive Conscious Care after major surgery, because YOU are your number one priority. And that is why I am so excited and passionate about offering this opportunity to women to rest, relax and let themselves be cared for by our team.
While you're onsite, I invite you to receive what healing services you're able to, and you can read more about what's available on my website: Www.beingharriet.com

Adam Lanka
Chief of Operations at the Lanktuary and solver of problems that arise
My name is Adam Lanka and I am 39 years old, from both North Carolina and the Chicago area, and I have been living in Costa Rica since 2007 after I graduated from college and came here to teach math and science at an international school.
I am the mastermind and designer of the Lanktuary and the problem solver and chief of operations of our space. I practice Shamanic energy healing on occasion, but these days I am mainly designing and building homes for my company, "Moonlight Construction."

It's not my intention to be directly involved in your care experience, but should you need someone to run an errand for you, take you somewhere or solve a random issue that pops up on the property, I'm your guy. Otherwise you'll find me around the space playing with my family, entertaining my daughters and enjoying the space that I have created. I hope you enjoy our space as much as I do.

Dr Valeria Quesada
Attending doctor for post operative care
My name is Valeria Quesada and I'm a passionate Integrative and Nutritional physician who has emphasized her career in researching and studying how human behaviors predispose the expression or not of disease in the body.

My main research areas are the brain and nervous system, movement, nutrition, microbiome, longevity, trauma, genetics, psychedelic medicine, neuroscience, mind-body connection, the evolution of humanity, planetary health, mindfulness, meditation, and consciousness. I have had training in different approaches from Western and Eastern medicine.I graduated as a Doctor of Health Sciences from Universidad Autónoma de Centro América, Costa Rica. Also, I studied Ayurveda Medicine at Prema Ayurveda and the University of Gran Rosario, Argentina.
My personal and professional experience, and my astonishing curiosity about the mystery of life and disease, led me to complete more specialized training in cognitive neuroscience, neuroscience of the body, and neuroscience of meditation at Nirakara, Spain. I did a guided training by Dr. Diane Poole and Dr. Peter Levine in working with complex trauma and untangling somatic wounds, and more deep studies about cellular evolution and consciousness with Dr. Bruce Lipton and the anthropologist Alberto Villoldo. Also, I'm a certified Integrative Nutritional Coach (IIN, USA, Brain Health Professional Coach (Amen University, USA), and Neural Therapist (Barcelona).

I specialize my integrative practice in Mind-Body Medicine, under the understanding that our quality of health and life is the result of the physiological response of behaviors and beliefs we have installed in our subconscious mind and by identifying how those programs are expressed in our body and lifestyle, we can teach the body new habits to biohack our biological systems to optimize our health span and lifespan. I strongly believe in the innate regenerative capacity our body has to heal itself if we give it what it needs. And it always starts with our decisions and the correct professional guidance. I define myself as an activist promoting brain health and bodily awareness and an eternal apprentice of life.
My purpose is to help people create a disease-free lifestyle that can make their lives healthier, longer, and happier.

Dr. Victor Urzola
Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Urzola performed my explant surgery in Escazu, Costa Rica in January of 2017. He was one of the first surgeons in the world to really master the craft behind breast explants. He is known internationally and nationally for his commitment to providing a high degree of surgical specialization in complex cases of reconstructive surgery and cosmetic procedures.

If you'd like to begin an inquiry with Dr. Urzola to see if he is the right surgeon for you, you will begin by contacting his inquiry team in Guanacaste, Explant & Beyond, made up of Joana & Courtney. They will ask you some initial questions to help you decide if you'd like to send pictures and get a quote for a procedure.

Once you receive your quote and schedule with the doctor, you'll then contact us here at Conscious Care, so that we can get you scheduled for your recovery,
